We’ve never been ones to complain about a bed being too big, but like
Goldilocks, we believe there’s nothing better than a bowl of food that’s
just right. So that landmark, yellow
Goldilocks bakery at the
corner of Broadway and Fir? Definitely the perfect fit
for all our Filipino food cravings.

And now, 22 years after first introducing the chain to Canada,
they’ve gone and opened a second Canadian location in trendy SoMa (there
are almost 20 Stateside and about a million in the Philippines).
Known for providing the city with meat pies and baked goods that
evoke memories of the Philippines (sorry, no porridge),
Goldilocks 2 has an equally delicious selection, friendly
staff, and speedy special order service.
Popular menu items include fresh lumpia
spring rolls ($55/10-piece party tray), Tocino
($19.75), a sweet, cured pork that’s delicious served with rice and a
fried egg, and Kare Kare ($32.75), also referred to as
peanut stew.
For dessert, we’ll be picking up Ube Macapuno
($1.85/slice), a sponge cake filled with buttercream and young coconut,
and the mango vanilla sponge cake ($2.35/slice),
featuring fresh mangoes and vanilla buttercream.
And after we devour all that, we’ll be settling into our
perfectly-sized bed for a nice little nap…. |
